We've already been promised a web browser, functional within game multitasking, the Nintendo E-Shop, Excitebike 3D for free and the ability to transfer your Dsi titles, but what else do you want to see?
The one thing that I want to see is an improvement to the (let's face it, bloody awful) friends application. The idea of adding friends on a system is to be able to chat with them and invite them into games, not just to see their Mii playing a game with a simple message above. If the May update does not include an update to the Friends application, Nintendo will have failed massively. Think of the potential. The 3DS has an inbuilt microphone and three cameras. Think of sending video messages or even using it to talk to your friends over skype. It's not impossible, it's just Nintendo releasing the 3DS before it was perfected.

Well while the friend code system is not great, its better then the ds in my opinion. The idea of video msg would be ace though, they have to do that (fingers crossed). Definately an expansion to allow msg to friends (voice msg would be great) is needed. They have to, have to for the love of god, insure the internet browser is much faster then on the ds and updatable (flash player, etc). That really Irated methat it took three days to load a page. As long as they have appropriate support for the trasferred software, I'd be happy.

Especially since they've actually delayed the update until June 7th (The day of Nintendo's E3) which hopefully means they're packing more in ready for the show. How awesome would it be to have Reggie say "And that system update is available... now" which enables the update all around the world that minute he says it. But anyway, there's gotta be a reason for the delay. It must be because of Reggie's favourite word... "content". Seriously, just listen to him this E3. He says it in every other sentence.

hmm yeah maybe a special game or software. As long as its not another video Reggis presents the chance of making a drinking game. Everytime he says content, take a swig, lol

So we got some new details of the update coming up next week. 'Improved' internet browser, a number of free software including excitebike and pokedex 3d (nice to see nintendo still making use of AR) improved hotspot access and a short video service (eventually) Not bad really. So what do you guys think?

Well, I downloaded the System Update this morning and I'm pretty happy so far. The Internet Browser is quite fast but it does not use Flash or HTML5 unfortunately. Whilst I cannot view YouTube videos, I can use the E-Shop to view full 3D trailers/gameplay of upcoming games and can also view 3D images of games. According to Nintendo, some sites will support autostereopic 3D through the Internet Browser, so that'll be something to look forward to. Unfortunately there has not been an update to the messaging system, but we can't really complain after being treated with a free Excitebike 3D download as well as a free 3D Pokedex for fans to enjoy. As a long term hardcore Pokemon fan, it gets my approval. If you watched E3 today you'll also know that Zelda: Four Swords has been announced for a free Dsi Ware re-release, which will also mean it will be available for download on the 3DS. You can't complain for a free download, can you? Thank you, Nintendo! So, what are your thoughts on the new update? I'm more than happy with it, and I'm sure more of things on my wanted list will be added eventually. Oh, and I typed all of this out on my 3DS. Oh yeah.

I got to try the System Update as well. While the Internet Browser is faster I agree With NM that its annoying its doesn't have Flash support . I do like the 3D trailers/gameplay in the eshop and the free software is not bad. I also got to try the transfer tool to transfer my software from my dsi to the 3ds. Its worth one go just to see the pikmin in action (YAY) While this tool is excellent and transferred most of my stuff wihtout a hitch, it does not transfer your current save files for the games. So if your halfway through Mario Vs DK, be prepared to start all over again. And if you noted earlier, some software cannot be transferred. So some game which you bought will be staying put. This includes the excellent Flipnote studio (boo) Overall, not bad.
