So there's this new Spyro game that's apparently going to be made and wow, I think it's probably gonna suck. I may not be a hardcore Spyro fan but I do like Spyro to some extent (the first 2 games anyway... the rest can all be thrown in the trash. Yes, even the 3rd game, which I think is over-rated but that's just me).I can think of several problems already with what is planned:
1. The design they're going with/might go with for Spyro makes him look like some sort of ugly and unloved foetus exhumed from the cemetary of Pocket Dragons. As much as I don't like LoS, Spyro in those games at least looked like Spyro. This on the other hand looks so rubbish it could be a Chinese knock-off of Spyro for all I know.
2. Spyro's name is just a subtitle, which means they're probably going to just shoehorn him into the game for marque value and to make room for all 31 of the new characters.
3. According to the second link Spyro's now basically going to be turned into the UB Funkeys of gaming (toys that interact with the game... -_-''). Just typing that out gave me a stroke...
4. The fact that they're primarily going to appeal to the young demographic (age 6-12). I don't have any major problem with that but come on, they should at least try and make it a little fun for the slightly older crowd like how stuff was in the original trilogy with the skill points and all that...
5. Trading cards!? Are you kidding me with this weaksauce!?! Have I been in a coma or something? Has Spyro ever been some kind of Pokemon-style thang with trading cards and all that? No! He's a purple dragon who'll roast you alive and screw your Mom if you get on his bad side! He doesn't need Trump cards or any novelties like that to make a good game! What on earth is up with Activision now?!
6. The game's probably going to be too expensive. The estimated cost for the game's starter pack is $70/£43. Okayish for a new game but not f***ing okay when you also need to buy MORE toys that are probably gonna be expensive as hell, just to beat the game. Even just buying the starter pack would be stretching it in terms of money, in my eyes. In all this could probably end up costing over £100 just to get all the content and that is soem major BS.
Who knows, this game could end up being da bomb, but at this point, hell no. If Enter the Dragonfly did a moderate amount of damage to Spyro's rep then this new game is possibly going to be his death.
But enough of my thoughts, what do you folks think about this?
