Do you think the world will end on December 21, 2012? Explain why or why not.

Look. This came up before. It was meant to happen last year i think. But anyway, my point is, the world was meant to end previous times before, but has it? No. It'll end either when the Sun has lost all its energy, creates a black hole and sucks us in (billions of years to come), or when global warming gets too much for the Earth to handle. Quite simple.

But what if the world doesn't end from a natural cause, but from a man-made cause. With all the war, terrorism, and nuclear bombs right now everywhere in the world, it seems very likely that a terrorist who hates the world can launch a single nuke at a single country. Next thing you know, nukes are flying everywhere.

Global warming isn't exactly a natural cause. Yes it happens naturally, but it's just enough that the Earth doesn't feel affected by it - it can cope. We are making it much worse. The G8 (UK, USA, Japan, Russia, Germany, Italy and France) is affecting it more than any of the other countries, and what are we doing to stop it? Nothing.
We're doing a topic about this in geography at the moment.

Knowing since the world is still coming out of the Ice Age, the Earth is suppose to warm up. Problem is, not this fast. And lets say that the cause of the world ending was Global Warming, how would Global Warming cause the extinction of everything?

Also, as you mentioned earlier, about wars etc, as I'm sure you both know Gordon Brown is a useless PM, sending more and more brave soldiers to their death in Afghanistan. Even Barack Obama of the United States has decided to send more soldiers out to be killed (300,000 I think?) and he is the one who throughout his speeches has been promising change, and a new America. It is very disappointing to see this happen, but we can only hope for Obama to improve America in numerous different ways in the future.

And lets say that the cause of the world ending was Global Warming, how would Global Warming cause the extinction of everything? Well, if the global temperature rises by 3°C (37.4°F), 40% of the animals in the world face extinction, mainly animals in the Arctic, Antarctic and Europe. If the temperature rises by 5°C (41°F), 60-70% of the animals will face extinction. Also, large cities such as New York City and London will be under 50ft of water. Quite hard to catch a bus or taxi, don't ya think?

Oh and not to mention, if it rises by 5°C (41°F), 4 billion people will be without water.

Yes the world will end. In ancient ejyptian times, a planet called Nibiru came into Orbit with us. It is alot bigger than the sun. Scientists have predicted that it will come back on december the 21st 2012 and that is Doomsday as there are aliens that have weapons on there.
Another reason is that the Mayans predicted it in the dark times.
