I used to repair XBox360's for money. This is a proven fix. All the RROD is, is an overheat problem of the CPU and the GPU. Microsoft, in it's hurry to get their console out first, ahead of the Sony Playstation 2, rushed production. They forgot to put thermal paste on the processors!!! The heat sinks didn't adhere properly and it caused overheating. Combined with poor ventilation, caused the RROD. Here is the proven fix (%95).....

Basically all it is, is tearing the thing apart, putting new thermal paste on the GPU & CPU and putting a few new screws & washers in there to make the heatsinks contact the processors more.

Microsoft should have been more carefull about problems before releasing the 360

As I said, Microsoft wanted to get their console out first and messed up the engineering of the thing.

In one video I saw on Youtube, this guy's 360 had the red ring of death, yet it was still working fine.

I have the same problem when I have to fix 360's. I should hope they do a better job with the next POS they decide to release.

I've seen some doozies when it comes to the RROD. try looking up "the towel trick"... I'm surprised you don't burn your XBox up.

I'm not sure if this method is proven or not, but I'm one of the lucky ones because I got my Xbox 360 last year and haven't had any problems with it at all, so I'm going to leave the console alone so the warranty will continue.

Yea, the newer ones that were manufactured within the last couple of years have improved heat sinks. Including better mother boards.

The video was deleted I think, but it was true. Must've been a glitchy '360.
